No Backtracking on Judicial Probe

The LDF has said that it will not backtrack on the demand for a judicial inquiry by a sitting judge into the multi crore Solar Panel Scam. The UDF Government is going back on its assurance to constitute a judicial probe by a sitting judge citing non-availability of sitting judges in Kerala. After a meeting of the LDF State Committee, LDF Convener Vaikom Vishwam termed the letter written by chief secretary to High court Chief Justice as trivial. He said that the fact is that the Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had not apprised the Chief Justice on the need for a sitting judge for a thorough probe. Neither did Chandy inform the Chief Justice on the development of cases related to the scam. His office was not eager to submit the telephone call details of Salim Raj.

The LDF reiterated that the office of the Chief Minister must be included in the purview of judicial inquiry.

Vaikom Vishwan also accused the Chandy of trying to interfere with the police probe. He said that the boycot of Chief Minister will continue, till he resigns.

In the meanwhile, LDF workers showed black flags to Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Manjeri, in Malappuram district where he had gone to inaugurate a Medical College. The police resorted to a lathi charge disperse the protesters injuring many LDF workers.
