To protest against the brutal attack by Israeli forces on Gaza resulting in the death of over 200 people and injuries to thousand others, a protest demonstration was held today in front of the Embassy of Israel in New Delhi today. Held under the joint auspices of the Palestine Solidarity Committee, All India Peace Solidarity Organization (AIPSO) and Indian People in Solidarity with Gaza the demonstration saw participation also from leaders and activists of the CPI(M), CPI, RSP, Forward Bloc & CPI(ML).
Though the demonstration was officially not allowed by the police, the organizations decided to go ahead with the demonstration. The demonstrators were addressed by Nilotpal Basu, (AIPSO), Sudhakar Reddy, Gen Sec., CPI, Mohd. Salim, MP, CPI(M), Kavita Krishnan, CPI(ML), Abani Roy, RSP, Dharmendra Varman, Forward Block, and Apurva, Indian People in Solidarity with Gaza, and Prabir Purkayastha, Palestine Solidarity Committee.
Speaker after speaker condemned Israel’s continuing disregard for Palestinian lives; flouting of international laws; and American support for an occupier war mongering state like Israel that commits war crimes with impunity. The speakers deplored the fact that the Indian government is not condemning the Israeli aggression. They demanded an immediate end to all military ties between India and Israel.
